The Malayan Tiger (Harimau Malaya in Malay), scientifically known as Panthera tigris jacksoni, is a rare subspecies native to Peninsular Malaysia. As the national symbol of Malaysia and the emblem of its national football team, this majestic creature is distinguished by its silky orange coat adorned with brilliantly distinct dark stripes. Male tigers can reach a height of 114 cm, an average length of 259 cm, and weigh up to 129.1 kg, while females are slightly smaller. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species classifies the Malayan Tiger as “Endangered.”
